Thomas Cammack
Meet Thomas. Thomas is an energetic, funny, loving three year old. In January 2011, just before his third birthday Thomas was diagnosed with cancer, a few days later the diagnosis got worse, Thomas has stage four, high risk neuroblastoma.
The lives of Thomas, his two siblings and the rest of our family have been changed beyond recognition. Thomas has undergone induction chemotherapy, surgery, high dose chemotherapy with stem cell rescue and is due to start radiotherapy in the coming weeks.
Thomas has battled hard against this deadly disease and approaches each phase of treatment with a smile, but as we move forward we begin to look at the future. Sadly the chances of relapse are terrifyingly high, around 80% and in the UK there is no relapse protocol. Should Thomas relapse we will need to look at treatments abroad that have been proven to work. These treatments come at a price though. To be in a good position to deal with whatever Neuroblastoma might throw at Thomas, we are aiming for £300,000. This would be more than enough to fight many types of relapse with a treatment available in Germany, but there are situations he could face, such as relapse in the brain, that would mean we would have to go to America, and that price would just cover the deposit.
Thomas means more to us than I can tell you, the thought of a future without him is unbearable, our worst nightmare.
I ask you to support the Thomas Cammack appeal and give our son the lifeline he needs.
From the bottom of our hearts, thankyou
