Harvey hext

Harvey is a happy,funny,fun loving and very cheeky little 4 year old boy. He has an identical twin brother,Spencer and an 8 year old sister Olivia.He loves nothing more than dancing around to the wiggles and watching Mr Tumble on the TV. Harvey was due to start school last September but sadly he has only been well enough to attend a few times. Its very difficult for him waving goodbye to his brother and sister as he desperatly wants to go back to school.

In June last year our lives were devastated when Harvey was diagnosed with stage 4 Neuroblastoma, a very agressive childhood cancer. Since then Harvey has amazed us and his doctors with the way in which he has coped with the chemotherapy and MIBG therapy he has been given, he has also recovered very well from a 14hr operation to remove the primary tumour in his stomach. Throughout the awfull treatment he has had to endure Harvey remains spirited,and inspirational..
Harvey has not responded to the chemotherapy as we had hoped he would,at the moment Consultants are still treating Harvey's cancer as cureable,however treatments in the UK for Neuroblastoma are limited and treatments given abroad DO work. Should the need arise for Harvey to be treated in Germany or the USA, we will be looking at a cost of around £300,000.

This cancer has put the whole family under unexplainable amounts of stress and the feeling of helplessness for your child is overwhelming. The one thing we can do is to; NEVER give up on our little boy; and get him the treatment he deserves. If it was your child what would you do?

Harvey is unique in many ways, he is one of identical twin boys who have Downs syndrome, there are only a handful in the UK. Harvey will also be the first documented patient in the world to have Down's syndrome and be treated for nueroblastoma. This has meant there are no comparable reference points for Harvey's treatments, as the medical team have no experience on the amounts of drugs his modified genetic makeup will cope with.

Harveys twin brother is also at risk of developing this vile cancer.
